dba's 5000 Series Brake Discs use a 2-piece design for durability and heat resistance. The use of a 2-piece design allows the hubs to be made of T6 aluminium, reducing unsprung weight and enhancing handling. Making the rotor and the hub two separate pieces allows the rotor to expand outwards with heat, without warping where it joins to the brake disc hub.
The rotors feature dba's T3 unidirectional slot design. This is designed not only to de-gas and resurface the brake pads as the brakes are used, but also to be quieter and smoother in use than many slotted designs. The design is unidirectional which means that the same pattern disc can be used on both the left and right of the car.
Another big dba advantage is their kangaroo paw vent pattern. Unlike most discs where the cooling vanes simply run from hub straight out to the edge of the disc, dba use a more complex "kangaroo paw" pattern. This uses less metal, reducing weight and increases the surface area exposes to air that is drawn through the rotor part of the brake disc.
dba's most recognisable feature is their Thermo-Graphic Heat Paint. The outer rim of the disc is painted with three stripes. These change colour as temperature thresholds are reached allowing you to see how much you can use your brakes before they need a rest.
When combined with the correct pad, and fluid, these will drastically enhance your cars braking performance.
