The V3 direct drive floating disc assemblies allow for radial and axial expansion of the rotor without being constrained by the hub. This helps prevent warping when the discs are exposed to high heat cycles. The V3 discs are retained on the mounting hat (bell) via a 'two turn' retaining ring system which locates in a groove in the hat which overlaps the rotor flanges. This allows for fast rotor changes without the use of tools and also reduces the weight of the assembly. This makes the V3 direct drive assemblies perfect for race applications.
The discs used for the V3 direct drive discs are manufactured from high carbon alloy with molybdenum and copper which increases strength and durability at extreme temperatures. Each discs is subjected to a heat treatment which increases the surface durability resulting in a lower wear rate. A minimum of 47 vales are used for increased cooling in race conditions. The discs are finished and balanced to very fine tolerances which reduces vibration and pad knock off
