An air to water auxiliary cooling system works on a very similar basis to an uprated intercooler but uses water instead of air to provide additional cooling and helps overcome the performance loss and efficiency issues associated with higher temperatures, created from aftermarket ECU tuning and high-performance demands on your engine.
The Mishimoto Heat Exchanger upgrade has a 60% increased core size giving 2.3 litres of extra coolant, and 180% increase in fin surface area over the OE system, which speeds up heat transfer and improves cooling characteristics which should, in turn, lead to lower (6°C drops over OEM stock system) overall coolant operating temperatures and quicker reductions in temperature once the system is hot.
This Heat Exchanger is manufactured from a durable all aluminium Tig welded construction, incorporates variable fin pitch technology in the lowest 12 rows for DCT equipped vehicles, and helps maintain coolant quality with a magnetic drain plug.
To protect your heat exchanger from road debris, Mishimoto has included an optional stainless steel mesh stone guard.
The included Charge Pipe kit upgrade from Mishimoto is designed to replace the OEM hard plastic charge pipes that can suffer from cracks and splits forming over time and prevent the boost leakage that can occur.
By using an all Aluminium construction, Mishimoto has been able to engineer their replacement charge pipes to resist heat cycling and age degradation, including common crack/split faults that can occur in rigid plastic components seams and joints.
These charge pipes are specifically contoured to fit the confined space in your engine compartment whilst maintaining optimal airflow, a matt black finish to resist contamination and corrosion and precision-engineered couplings that provide an OEM quality fit. Mishimoto has also included their matte black silicone coupling hoses to ensure these charge pipes can be used with either the OEM cooler or their own upgrade air to water intercooler
The Mishimoto Air-to-Water Intercooler is the heart of the air-to-water cooling system and is specifically designed as a replacement upgrade for the OEM charge cooler to enhance your vehicles auxiliary cooling system.
The air-to-water intercooler core size is increased over the OE system by 29% which speeds up heat transfer and increases cooling characteristics which should, in turn, lead to 6.7°C drops in intake air temperature, globally 6°C lower coolant operating temperature and a quicker reduction in temperatures once the system is hot.
The larger core capacity with its unique single-pass coolant bar and plate design pass air more consistently due to specially designed internal air diverters in the end tanks giving 16% greater airflow over the OEM stock parts.
As with the other components in this pack, the Mishimoto air-to-water intercooler is designed to specifically fit your vehicle without requiring further modification making it faster and easier to install. It is manufactured from an all aluminium Tig welded construction that overcomes crack and split failures common to plastic components due to continual hot and cold temperature cycles and ageing, and finished in a durable micro-wrinkle black powder-coating to resist corrosion.
