An air to water auxiliary cooling system works on a very similar basis to an uprated intercooler but uses water instead of air to provide additional cooling and a key component to this system is the cooling heat exchanger/radiator. The Mishimoto Heat Exchanger upgrade has a 60% increased core size giving 2.3 litres of extra coolant, and 180% increase in fin surface area over the OE system, which speeds up heat transfer and improves cooling characteristics which should, in turn, lead to lower (6°C drops over OEM stock system) overall coolant operating temperatures and quicker reductions in temperature once the system is hot.
The Mishimoto Performance Heat Exchanger is manufactured from a durable all aluminium Tig welded construction, incorporates variable fin pitch technology in the lowest 12 rows for DCT equipped vehicles, and a magnetic drain plug.
