All R&G Crash Protectors incorporate compression sleeves allowing accurate torque settings to be applied during installation. Modern motorcycles are designed to be as lightweight and compact as possible. The downside to this is that as a result there are very few places with enough strength to take a direct impact without breaking.
From experience, the only place on most modern bikes capable of dissipating the forces of a crash is the point where the frame meets the engine. In some cases this may mean a small fairing modification, but the alternative is fitting wholly unsuitable components, possibly causing more damage. R&G kits can't work miracles but they can shift the odds a lot further in your favour than some alternatives.
